this past weekend a group of friends and i traveled to dublin. i really wanted to see an old woman knitting woolen socks with her husband shaving a sheep in the background, but my search was not successful. there were woolen socks, but not as authentic as i imagined.

dublin castlein the 17th century, after dinner and before dancing, guests were divided into three waiting rooms - one for married couples, one for single men and one for single ladies. this is where the single ladies waited until a single man entered and asked them to dance. if you were not asked to dance, you stayed in the room until the party was over. how sad!
